When Life Went on Pause

“Cheers, to the start of a new year!”

Little did we know we’d live in fear.

Fear of the outside and the disease,

Staying away from every cough and sneeze.

Some would come back in the fall,

While others were forced to leave it all.

Felt like everything was being taken away.

Life went on pause, and we were forced to be on play.

We were forced to stay inside,

Wiping every surface, disinfectants being applied.

We watched that desolating number rise.

The one that went up every time someone….

But that is all in the past.

Back then we didn’t know how long it would last,

But it’s all ended.

Friends see each other; parties are attended.

I think back and realize I learned a lot,

Living in the moment is the lesson it taught.

Before all of this, I would take for granted living the ordinary way.

That’s why now, I’m appreciative for every day.

Life is now on play.
